The Lebanese Science Organization exists for Lebanese students and scientists wherever they are: at universities in Lebanon, in graduate programs and labs abroad, and in the diaspora, including students of Lebanese descent who have never lived in the country. Science in Lebanon has always been carried by people who leave, people who stay and people who come back. We want them to know each other.
We do a few concrete things. We keep a directory, so that a student in Beirut can find the person who did the master’s they are considering and a postdoc in Boston can find a collaborator two time zones away. We archive the lectures, summer schools and workshops our members run, so that a course given once stays useful. We surface opportunities, from summer programs to positions, and note whether applicants from Lebanon are eligible. We review applications and statements for people who ask. And we publish paths: the actual sequence of steps that led members to where they are.
Joining works by application. You tell us who you are, where you are and why you want to be part of this. Every application is read by a member and decided case by case. There is no fixed eligibility line, no minimum degree and no fee. Once approved, you sign in with your email, no password, and the platform is yours.
The organization is incorporated in Wyoming, United States, as a nonprofit corporation, and our application for 501(c)(3) status is pending. We work closely with LebNet, the network of Lebanese professionals in technology, and we point in a different direction: LebNet is about industry and entrepreneurship, LebSci is about students, research and academia.
Tell us who you are, where you are and why you want in. Ten minutes.
A member reads every application. No rubric, no minimum degree. You hear back within a few days.
